The money collected will be channelled through the National Institution of Social Care and Vocational Training – Beit Atfal Assumoud (BAS), FPSR's cooperation partner since 1984.

The motto of FPSR is: Right to psychological well-being for everyone. Mental well-being is based on peace. During warring the preconditions for mental well-being are maintained by enduring and coping from day to day and by supporting and helping one another with the very basics of life.

As the bombs went off, our cooperation partner Beit Atfal Assumoud (in English the Home for Children of Endurance) appealed to humanitarian organisations: We urgently need mattresses, food and medicine! Now BAS is ready to take the responsibility for three thousand families now displaced in different refugee camps in Lebanon after fleeing the bombardments.

We help a local NGO to help. The collected money will be channelled through the National Institution of Social Care and Vocational Training – Beit Atfal Assumoud (BAS), FPSR's cooperation partner since 1984. Information about the collection on the website www.psykologiensosiaalinenvastuu.fi

BAS was founded 30 years ago in Beirut to take care of the children who lost their parents in the Tal al-Zaatar massacre. In 1982 the children were evacuated again, this time to Syria to escape from bombings in Sabra and Shatilla. Gradually BAS started again to work in several areas of Lebanon. After the civil war the children returned. After more than twenty years of cooperation with BAS, we can consider the organisation as a very reliable partner. With the support of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland we have assisted for more than ten years BAS to develop their mental health work. We appreciate the competent and steadfast humanitarian work of BAS in ten refugee camps www.socialcare.org

Now the fund-raising is for immediate survival needs. BAS is ready to take the responsibility for three thousand families now displaced in different refugee camps in Lebanon after fleeing the bombardments. Allocating 100 USD for each family as an emergency relief will be of great help for people who had to leave behind all they had in the refugee camp they used to live.

Finnish Psychologists for Social Responsibility is committed to support BAS in this relief work by collecting money for 200 families, which means that our target is
20 000 USD = 16 000 euros.
Two hundred families will get the necessities to survive.

Your contribution will help Palestinian people now displaced even in their exile in Lebanon.
